The Patlabor anime was released between 1988, to 2002 when the latest movie was released. "WXIII Patlabor the movie 3" may not be the last we see of Patlabor. In an interview published in early 2003, Yutaka Izubuchi said that he was considering doing a series of films or a TV series based on the two detectives in the third film. Unfortunately as "WXIII Patlabor the movie 3" took over seven years to complete, the producers of the series, Bandai Visual, may not be interested in doing anymore sequels. At this stage it looks unlikely that any more Patlabor anime will be made.

Essentially the anime versions of Patlabor have two separate timelines. There are also a number of animated oddities which don't really fit into either timeline or aren't really part of the main storylines and a version of Patlabor which wasn't made.
