Notes: Contains episodes 1 to 5 of the TV series. Includes an English dub of the series for the first time. The DVD version also contains a very brief introduction to Patlabor (text), an interview with series director Naoyuki Yoshinaga (text), character profiles for Asuma, Noa, Ota, Goto and Shinobu (text) and an art gallery which is mostly screenshots with some line art. There is also a DVD-ROM component which expands on the DVD extras, as well as including ADR scripts, brief episode synopses and brief cast and production credits. This DVD was later re-issued with new cover artwork to match latter volumes.

Notes: Movie disc is identical to single disc release. "Minipato" disc contains all three episodes plus TV spots, "Making of" video (35 minutes), textless opening animation and a karaoke version of the opening theme hidden as an Easter Egg. "Minipato" was only available in this box set and was never released as a single disc. The third disc in the box set contains three 25 minute "Making of" featurettes about "WXIII Patlabor the movie 3", the 1997 Pilot Film, and art gallery and the "Say Young 21" radio programme which includes the animation layouts for the video. Strangely the radio programme is not subtitled unlike the rest of the material on the disc, however it does include a brief text synopsis about the show. The box set also includes a 16 page booklet on "WXIII Patlabor the movie 3" and "Minipato".
