Prototype and Miscellaneous Labors Midi
Notes: Another luxury Labor. This one is aimed more at rich young females who want to own a Labor. Like the Ganbolgini, it's doubtful that this Labor would actually be able to do any industrial work, except maybe some very, very light lifting. The Labor can drive like a car on four wheels or stand on two legs and walk. This Labor is only seen in the episode "A Green Phantom".
Type-RE13EX Phantom
Notes: An experimental Labor created by Schaft to gather battle data under a project headed by Kurosaki. The Labor takes on the SV2 and the military on two separate occasions. Though it's not not explicitly stated in the anime, the Phantom is most likely unmanned. The Phantom is probably the only Labor in Patlabor to use laser weapons.
Labor X
Notes: A rather useless homemade Labor created by one of Gotoh's enemies to destroy him. One wonders if any of the specs listed here are actually true, as it doesn't do a whole lot except fall apart in the anime. This Labor appears in the TV episode "Captain Gotoh is the Target".
Type-J9 Griffin
Notes: A black Labor that first appears in the TV series. The Griffin is an experimental Labor designed by Schaft to develop Labor components for military and civilian applications. The Griffin project is headed up by Utsumi and the Phantom's Kurosaki is second in command. The Labor is seen in two different types in the anime, a flight version in the TV series, which as it sounds is equipped with jets and wings to make the Griffin fly, and an Aqua unit as seen in the New OVA Series, which can make the Griffin into a submersible Labor. The Griffin is piloted by a young Indian boy named Bud Renard Harchand. Although most Japanese reference books romanise the name of the Labor as "Griffon", the actual name of the Labor should be "Griffin". The Griffin Labor is often referred to as a creature with a eagle's head and wings and a lion's body (also specifically mentioned in the reference book "Labor Graphix"), which in mythology is a "Griffin" or the less commonly spelt "Gryphon". A "Griffon" is a breed of dog. The head and wings of the Griffin Labor do indeed resemble the mythological creature, not a dog.
AVS-98 Economy
Notes: A prototype of Shinohara's budget version of AV-98 Ingram. Intended as a cheap replacement of the AV-98 and other Police Labors currently in service, it's fight with Griffin and subsequent defeat in the TV episode "Tragedy in the Rain", designated it to the scrap heap.
AVS-98 Mark II
Notes: Shinohara's upgrade of the original AVS-98 Economy Labor. Although it does seem to have the same specs as its predecessor, it was a much improved model. But again plans for the Labor to be mass produced and put into service with Police Units was shelved. << Back to Prototype and Miscellaneous Labors Part 1 | The World of Tokyo 1998 - 2002 Main Page | Back to Labors Main Page >> | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
